Biography
Born in 1967 in Burton Upon Trent, Staffordshire, James has spent most of his life around the midlands, Staffordshire, Derbyshire areas.
He first given a camera on his 11th birthday - a Kodak brownie with a flipfop flash and 110 Cartridge film, which he still has to this day, his next camera was a practika TL3 SLR and a 50mm Prime and a 70 - 200mm zoom lens and self taught himself the basics of photography and the use of an SLR.
In 2002 he progressed onto digital format starting with a Sony Cyber-Shot P50 2 mega pixel compact. progressing through various cameras to his present cameras:
Canon 5D MKII and Canon 450D backup camera, the lenses he uses are Canon 24 - 105mm f4L USM IS, Sigma 18-200mm f3.6-6.3 DC , Sigma EX 50mm f2.8 DG macro prime lens and Canon EF-S 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS, Canon EF 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USM and a Canon EF 50mm f1.8, two Canon Speedlites, a 580EXII and a 430EXII, studio flash equipment, brollies and soft boxes.
In 2008 he started attending classes in photography at the local college, and made great use of the studio facilities, Which is where he first started working with models. working his way though the Level 3 City & Guilds units and is still there continuing to this day working towards his Diploma.
He regularly attends his local Burton on Trent Photographic Society Club meetings and enters various club print and projected images competitions and is a member of the Royal Photographic Society.
